A Little Song & Dance

Music and Art = A Life Enchanted

0 notes &

I’ve only taken a few “Formal” dance classes, but have been dancing on and off for about 2 years.  (2 or 3 classes w/Galena, 1 class w/Belladonna, and my first workshop recently- also w/Belladonna.)  Since then I’ve studied on my own through the occasional video, picked up what I could from the best resources YouTube had to offer, and (drawing from those resources), even did what I could to pass on what little knowledge I have to other students of the dance in Hipnotixx, throughout this past academic year.  (Though normally I would in NO way claim to have enough skills to merit my being a real Teacher.)  So I’ve often wondered where I stood (or, would that be shimmied..?) in the realm of Advanced, Intermediate or Beginning dancer.

As we had no formal teacher in Hipnotixx (Radford University’s bellydance club), we clicked on lots of Tiazza’s videos; so it’s great to hear her address this topic as well. :)  Fortunately, she seems to share many of my thoughts on the topic, but.. how do you feel about the subject?  Do you think these levels should be precisely delineated?  And if so, how do you define the points where one progresses from one state to another..?
