Loving this SO HARD!!! XD
Srsly.. how badass is this piece???  And when they start doing the drops and windmill kicks??? *dies*  I -absolutely- lost it, y’all. *chuckles*  I was quiet up until then, and suddenly- WHAM- total fan-girl.  No joke.  Of course I was loving it throughout, but at that point, I was -literally- hooting & hollering at my computer, and when it finally ended, I unabashedly cheered.- Like.. IRL.  *lol*  LOVE THIS!!!  ♥♥♥

To those who think you need to be one gender or another to bellydance, I say check THIS out!!! ^_^  We’ve got rather butchy gents, rather femmy gents, gents who seem somewhat gender fluid, and they are ALL freaking YUMTASTICLY FIERCE.  How can you go wrong??!! ^_^

Out of the whole beautiful bunch (of whom I adore every one, btw), I think my particular faves are the guy in all the scarves (on wrists and draping from his noggin) w/the face fuzz, the 2 short-haired gents often dancing side by side in the pointy-hemmed, sleeveless crop tops (especially the smaller one- his attitude, energy & moves were sublime!), and of course, that fluffier dancer in the mix, who TOTALLY rocked it out center stage at one point!  Yee-ESS!!!  (And can I just say right now how much I adore that they included a fuller-figured dancer in this?  Thank you guys for that, too! ♥♥♥)   ..Just.. LURVE!! XD  *cheers insanely*

-And if you DO like what you see, you should check out this li’l photoshoot I featured of the amazing, the incomparable (and the imcomparably sweet) Bagoas here, long ago too. :)

Oh!  Plus if YOU”RE a gent (or know of one) who’s interested in bellydance (or if you just dig ‘em and wanna find a list), I have an ever-growing compendium of male bellydancers (alongside resources for our dancing male friends) available here. ^_^  (So if you know of one I’ve missed, please, drop me a line!  I wanna catch ‘em all! ;D)

Hope y’all dig, and no matter WHO you are, happy dancing! ^_^

I’m workin’ on the next bellydance-inspired ep. of Eclectica, and suddenly it dawned on me to get YOUR input, my booful bellydancing community, for whom this show is made, before I do. :)  So; has anyone got any suggestions or requests to put in for the next show, before I start recording tomorrow..? :D
I’ve already got a little Oum Kalthoum on the way, as well as some Corvus Corax.. and others. ^_^  Plus I have a good li’l pool of podsafe & permitted musical bits available, and can always make requests of the bands YOU request. ^_^  But in case people have specific bands or songs they want, or should there be a band or two out there who wanna submit their work for the show, I thought I’d inquire. ^_^
So saying:  Might anyone want to hear anything specific..?  *tightens screws on headphones & listens closely*

Next for our Geek Friday video games theme, we’ve got this BADASS concoction by 2 of the members of Raks Geek, a troupe that SPECIALIZES in geeky bellydance! ^_^

Using the game Assassin’s Creed as inspiration, this is a -chill inducing- Fusion sword piece that’s beautifully staged, artfully choreographed and delightfully dark; with sharp movements & dramatic, loverly accents. ^_^  I positively adore this piece, and wouldn’t mind learning it m’self! ^_^

In fact, this reminds me a lot of Night, the president of our former bellydancing club at RU.  She’s a BIG fan of computers, anime, and other awesomely geeky stuff, loved our nifty swords (that we got at MissBellydance.com- in BLACK XD), and often wears costuming like this- as well as a hoodie in her “daily duds.” ^_^  (Plus, her dancing style is somewhat similar in its form & intent, so I can -totally- see her pulling something like this off. ^_^)  I bet she’d PLATZ over the costuming, choreo & intensity here, too. ^_^

So for all my darkling divas, video gaming vixens, and especially you, Ms. Night, this is for you. ^_^  I hope I get to do something like THIS w/you someday, ‘cause it is WICKED! ♥♥

Now, get ready for one strong & super badass sword piece, and hold on to your scimitars (carefully ;)), ‘cause it’s gonna be one deadly ride-with an awesome soundtrack!. ;D

Today our theme for Geek Friday is… *drumroll pleeeeaaaase!* VIDEO GAMES! :D  To start off the vids for today, we’ve got this adorable dance, inspired by the game Portal.  XD

I’ve never played it m’self, but I’ve seen it played, and I -adore- all the merch, fan vids, and music people have created that’re inspired by it, as well as the idea/object of the game.  If y’all haven’t heard it before, I -highly- recommend checking out Jonathan Coulton’s song “Still Alive,” which was written by Mr. Coulton, and done by GLADOS- and then I believe got used in the credits of the game. ^_^  It is adorable and twisted just like the video game, and if you don’t like the version I’ve linked to, you can also find vids w/just one of them singing, should you prefer. :)  (But the one above plays the version w/Jonathan & GLADOS singing together. :))

But before you go and check out the game (comically dark and creative as all get-out), stay for a few and peep this bellydance, which uses sword, veil, and lots of spirit. ^_^  Hooray for creative, awesome, smart n’ spunky bellydancing geekygirls! ^_^
