And since it looks like I’m gonna be gone for the weekend, I’ll give you guys ooooone more Geek Friday video (to tide you over until I get back). :D  Meet the ladies of Antipode, who also specialize in geeky bellydance! ^_^  Here, they rock it out w/moves inspired by the great, the classic.. SUPER MARIO BROTHERS!  And I hope you dig their creativity as much as I do, ‘cause I think this number is adorable. ^_^

Have a good weekend y’all, and again, if you have any requests or videos, pics, or other goodies to share for other Geek Fridays, please do!  I’m always open to suggestions, and would love to see more grand, geeky, bellydance greatness! ♥

Next for our Geek Friday video games theme, we’ve got this BADASS concoction by 2 of the members of Raks Geek, a troupe that SPECIALIZES in geeky bellydance! ^_^

Using the game Assassin’s Creed as inspiration, this is a -chill inducing- Fusion sword piece that’s beautifully staged, artfully choreographed and delightfully dark; with sharp movements & dramatic, loverly accents. ^_^  I positively adore this piece, and wouldn’t mind learning it m’self! ^_^

In fact, this reminds me a lot of Night, the president of our former bellydancing club at RU.  She’s a BIG fan of computers, anime, and other awesomely geeky stuff, loved our nifty swords (that we got at MissBellydance.com- in BLACK XD), and often wears costuming like this- as well as a hoodie in her “daily duds.” ^_^  (Plus, her dancing style is somewhat similar in its form & intent, so I can -totally- see her pulling something like this off. ^_^)  I bet she’d PLATZ over the costuming, choreo & intensity here, too. ^_^

So for all my darkling divas, video gaming vixens, and especially you, Ms. Night, this is for you. ^_^  I hope I get to do something like THIS w/you someday, ‘cause it is WICKED! ♥♥

Now, get ready for one strong & super badass sword piece, and hold on to your scimitars (carefully ;)), ‘cause it’s gonna be one deadly ride-with an awesome soundtrack!. ;D

Today our theme for Geek Friday is… *drumroll pleeeeaaaase!* VIDEO GAMES! :D  To start off the vids for today, we’ve got this adorable dance, inspired by the game Portal.  XD

I’ve never played it m’self, but I’ve seen it played, and I -adore- all the merch, fan vids, and music people have created that’re inspired by it, as well as the idea/object of the game.  If y’all haven’t heard it before, I -highly- recommend checking out Jonathan Coulton’s song “Still Alive,” which was written by Mr. Coulton, and done by GLADOS- and then I believe got used in the credits of the game. ^_^  It is adorable and twisted just like the video game, and if you don’t like the version I’ve linked to, you can also find vids w/just one of them singing, should you prefer. :)  (But the one above plays the version w/Jonathan & GLADOS singing together. :))

But before you go and check out the game (comically dark and creative as all get-out), stay for a few and peep this bellydance, which uses sword, veil, and lots of spirit. ^_^  Hooray for creative, awesome, smart n’ spunky bellydancing geekygirls! ^_^

Saideh: On Being in Character and Geeky Bellydance

Yaaaaay!!  It’s Geek Friday!!! *happy Kermit flails*

Let’s start off the geekiness w/a neat article by Saideh, where she talks about geeky bellydance, getting into character for such, and a lovely little Con I got to experience in 2012 in Boston, called Arisia.  It’s smallish as Cons go (nowhere near the size of say.. DragonCon or ComiCon), but this Con is FULL of sweet people and LOTS of heart.  (I went initially for memorial services for a friend, and found out that his convention was MUCH neater than I had ever suspected.  They made a sad occasion a sweet one as well, and for that I will always remember Arisia fondly. ♥♥♥)  And guess what..?  THEY HAVE THEIR OWN GEEKY BELLYDANCE SHOW! ^_^  So talk of this wonderful Con seemed like a perfect way to start off today’s Geek Friday posts. ^_^

Hope ya like, and if you can get to Boston this January next, y’oughtta go!  Arisians are a lovely folk, with a wonderfully open, creative bellydance show! ^_^

Custom Women's Plus Size V-Neck Dark T-Shirt @ CafePress.com

Did I show y’all my new tee design..?  It’s a drawing by me, surrounded by stars and scrolling script, saying “Big Beautiful Bellydancer.”  I made it via CafePress, and I belieeeeve if you click on the link, you can buy it too, for just $20!  (Whereas they normally charge $24+ for “normal” tees, and plus-size tees can go all the way into the $30+ range.)  I dunno if they kick any commission back my way, but since I know many of us fluffy dancers are in searh of cute, dance-related gear for practices, workshops, classes, events n’ the like, I thought I’d share. :)

I just got mine a few days ago, and I LOVE IT.  The cotton feels lovely, the “V” of the neck is nice and low but not too low, and they come in sizes all the way up to 5x, w/no extra charge!  (Which is the amazing part to me, since CP and places like them- even Zazzle- up-charge for larger sizes.)  So.. get ‘em while they’re hot (or, at least- cheap ;)), and if you want, modify ‘em!  I’m thinking about giving mine a cold shoulder and a peekaboo, laced back. ^_^

Belly Dance Store.com: Sahar Okasha Dress

Some people look at me w/more than a bit of incredulity when I talk about how bellydance costumes can be expensive; like.. between a grand and up.  Well, here ya go.  Enter; one STUNNING bit of gorgeousness, that if it fit and I could afford it, I would SO go gold for.  LOVE this dress, and all that sparkle! ^_^  ..And yep, it’s $1,495.  (Which means it’d likely be more elsewhere, ‘cause BDS does their best to give customers really decent prices.)

In the vernacular of my darling drag queens; yep.. I am -totally- gagging. ♥♥♥
