Do you play w/stuff like Spotify, Blip.fm, 8Tracks, Playlist.com (formerly Project Playlist), GrooveShark, or other fun musical programs to get yourself inspired, create playlists, or keep track of the music you love most? I like all of ‘em, but apps that help you make your own playlists are my favorites. :) (I like Pandora for its introduction-factor, but sometimes when ya wanna hear a song, you wanna hear a song, not a tune like it, you know..?) Plus I kinda dig the partnership 8Track has w/SoundCloud. It makes it harder to find “mainstream” music, but helps new musicians get their work heard, so it’s a fair exchange, I think. :) (Not to mention the fact that the adventure of it all makes for a more experimental playlist! :D)
I have accounts on pretty much all of the above (under various names, so don’t you spammers try it!!), aaaand likely a few more that I’ve forgotten about. ;) As a singer, dancer, performer of various forms or weirdness, (irregular) podcaster, and just general all-around music geek, I am ALWAYS on the lookout for fab new music. ..I may not be able to tell you a heap-load of facts about x y or z, but I have my favorites, n’ I play a meeeean game of “Name That Tune.” ^_^ (Plus I truly do love juuuust about everything. :))
How ‘bout you? What music can you not live without..? Or do you make music too? Lemme know, and maybe I’ll put it here. Or perhaps (after some gabbing about permissions of course), I’ll stick it in my podcast! It ain’t big, but maybe if the belly-community likes it, it’ll grow! ^_^
Hugs & MANY Happy Shimmies!
What other web spaces make an impact on your bellydance life? I have a few things scattered here n’ there. Personally, I’ve;
a Twitter (where I talk about my life, which of course includes TONS of bellydance),
a Pinerest board (entirely based on bellydance),
a Kaboodle board (with both bellydance & ren. faire goodies- though you can find lots of BD stuff in my Wish List as well),
a Blip.fm page (often featuring bellydance-able tunes)
How ‘bout you?
