Hiya! Welcome to the “addiction!” ;D
There are a few different ways you can go about studying online, if you don’t have anybody local:
One, you can take online classes from badass places like Datura Online, RaqsTV, and Suhaila Sailimpour’s website. Both Datura & RaqsTV feature lessons in varying styles from a number of teachers, whereas Suhaila’s is more geared toward her and her mother’s style. (But even then, Suhaila offers guest teacher appearances. ;)) Plus there are also other little places like eHow which offer decent bellydance bits (for example, Howcast.com features mini lessons w/the marvelous Irina Akulenko- who ROCKS), but usually these are pretty short.
If you wanna go entirely through Youtube on the other hand, there are 2 main folks I’d recommend: Anthea Kawakib, and Tiazza Rose (formerly Wilson). Anthea specializes in bellydance w/a focus on finger cymbals (at least online, but does TONS of other awesome stuff outside of her instructional goodies on YT- which her performances will surely show you while you’re there). Plus Anthea is a SUPER sweet lady, whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting through the interwebs. ^_^) Tiazza on the other hand, runs her own free bellydance instruction site (w/videos through YouTube), and she offers vids w/all kinds of bellydance stuff; but focuses primarily on solo dancer (i.e. prop-free) goodness. (And no doubt she’s a really nice lady too. ;)) She can tend to speak a bit fast on occasion though. But don’t to let that deter you. Rewinding any instructional videos is par for the course, and she’s actually pretty darn good. ^_^
Another instructor I’ve enjoyed on YT is Aslahan (for more cymbals), but if you’re up to snagging a few DVDs, I -highly- recommend Belladonna. She does Tribal-Fusion style dance, and is a deity of sword dancing. ^_^ Another video I’ve enjoyed is Asharah (who also does Tribal-style dance). While Bella’s videos are centered around sword, Asharah’s are general dance technique, and she really knows her pewp. She’ll have you naming muscle groupings n’ stickin’ those sharp moves in no time. :)
Beyond that, I haven’t seen a jillion dance DVDs m’self. (Though given that I’m in the same predicament as yourself, and am often a resident of Booneysville USA, that should seriously change!) Do y’all out there in Tumblr-Land have any suggestions for people like Doc-Thor and I, in the way of good YT, online or DVD options..? I’m not sure if Doc-Thor has any style preferences (i.e. Tribal, Cabaret, Romani, Turkish, etc.), but -any- great teacher is worth looking into, imo. ^_^
Oh! One last thing, Doc-Thor: If you’re looking for technique how-tos, I’d generally suggest you veer away from anything that says “for fitness” or “workout.” While these vids can be awesome solely for getting your groove on or wetting your tootsies in the well of a given dance form, they’re not often what folks are looking for when it comes to pursuing genuine dance skills. However, if you ARE wanting to explore, I’d -highly recommend the divine Samira Shuruk and her DVD, RaqFit. Her DVD covers bellydance AND Bollywood styles; as she’s not only a talented bellydancer, but also a stunning Bollywood performer to boot. ^_^
Annnd that’s about it fer me! I know it’s not much, but mehopes that helps! (And thank y’all in advance, for any help or ideas you might be able to proffer. :D) Let us know how it goes, Doc-Thor! I’d love to share a video of YOU dancing here, someday! ^_^

This is one of the songs I danced to tonight for my 90-Day Dance Party Challenge, and I just had to share it w/y’all, ‘cause I freaking LURVZ it. ^_^
I wish I understood it, but GAH is it divine to listen & dance to! (Plus, I like trying to sing along by ear, and attempt to keep up when they start going really, REALLY fast. ^_^) This song is great to dance to in any style, n’ I hope you enjoy it too. ^_^ (And if you wanna know more about the dance challenge, just let me know, and I’ll start putting those posts out as Pubic.)

I have to admit, I have something of a crush on Ms. Shakti. She’s extraordinarily beautiful, has followed her dream all the way to India to pursue her studies, and has something about her that I just cannot place- but am inexorably drawn to. :) (Maybe it’s her immersion in Indian culture, spirituality and their mutual connections to dance..?) But either way, I love her vibe, totally adore her outfit here, and am so glad to’ve discovered this video. ^_^ So, so beautiful! ♥
Hooray for Indian-infused bellydance! XD

Hey peeps! I’ve got 2 very cool recommendations comin’ your way. :)
First off; I give you the amazing talent & ebullient personality of the lovely Ms. Samira Shuruk. I’ve been blessed to see her dance a few times at DC’s Tribal Cafe, and I have got to say that this woman’s performances are just unbelievable. She dances like a dream, and her vibrant smile & simply staggering energy just light up the whole room. ^_^
She does bellydance and Bollywood, and I swear the woman seems absolutely stunning at whatever style she’s dancing in; flawlessly shining with whatever props she chooses to employ. :)

She is currently working on funding her upcoming bellydance & Bollywood DVD- called “RaqFit,” and y’all should TOTALLY go check it out. ^_^ Having seen her work, I would LOVE to take some IRL classes w/her somtime. But if I can’t currently, this looks like a great way to learn from her, remotely! (Both on the DVD, as well as given the awesome perks she’s offering, in exchange for folks backing her project.)
For more Samira goodness, you can find her FB page at: https://www.facebook.com/SamiraDanceDC, her main webspace at: http://www.samirashuruk.com/, and again, her new DVD project at: http://www.indiegogo.com/RaqFitSamira?c=home. Go see, go see! ^_^
Secondly, here, have a few links to some audio goodness! *beams*
I just found one of these tonight (thanks to the lovely Kindle of C-burg), and remembering that BandCamp can be such a great place for finding new tunes, put one other link up from there as well. :) Both are very Beats Antique-y (Lynx even works w/BA on occasion), and both are GREAT fodder for bellydancing. ^_^ Enjoy!

Have y’all heard of Tina Sugandh? She’s an Indian American singer, musician, songwriter & dancer (literally- like her family’s from India, but she grew up in Jersey), & lots of her music blends both Eastern & Western grooves. I’ve only heard 3 songs of hers so far, but she ain’t half bad. :)
If you’re a fellow Bollywood or bhangra fan (or just dig bellydancing to Indian music) she might be worth a quick listen. :)

I found this guy on YouTube recently (thanks to his video “Sh*T Arab Girls Say”) and found out that not only is he hella-cute, he’s also hella-talented. :) He does hilarious vids on Arabic folks and others’ takes on Arab culture (in addition to other silly, awesome stuff), and I think he’s the bees’ knees. :)
Anyhoo, while I was looking through his videos, I found a parody. Didn’t recognize the name of the original tune, but hey, *click* why not? Turns out, not only was that parody funny as hell (even w/o knowing the original song), the music was intriguing enough to make me go try n’ find the original. :)
So now, if you’re of a mind, watch this first (I know, we’re essentially doing things backwards- but apparently I’m good at that), and then go check out the original tune Kolaveri Di. If you like Bollywood hits than you’ll likely love this tune. ^_^ Just be careful- like many Indian tunes; it’s fun, but it’s also a long one! -So if you’re dancing to it, pace yourself! *lol*
Hope ya like!
