DCVariety Open Mic - December Rocks Edition
Hey everybody! On December 13th if you’re in (or near) the DC/VA/MD area, come on by and check out my first variety show performance- EVAR!! ^_^ The Red Palace (formerly the Palace of Wonders) is a local variety show legend, known for its great burlesque, bellydance & sideshow acts, and soon it’ll sadly be closing its doors; so come on out while you still can!
They have a full bar, munchies, and of course, -awesome- variety acts! I’ll be singing AND bellydancing, so come on out, hear your local siren serenade you, see her shimmy a hip or two, and have a blast at one of the Red Palace’s LAST events! ♥♥♥
(And remember, anyone who gives the password “loves variety” at the door will get in for a mere $5!) So come see the show, and join in the fun! ^_^

Music and Dance :)
Hey peeps! I’ve got 2 very cool recommendations comin’ your way. :)
First off; I give you the amazing talent & ebullient personality of the lovely Ms. Samira Shuruk. I’ve been blessed to see her dance a few times at DC’s Tribal Cafe, and I have got to say that this woman’s performances are just unbelievable. She dances like a dream, and her vibrant smile & simply staggering energy just light up the whole room. ^_^
She does bellydance and Bollywood, and I swear the woman seems absolutely stunning at whatever style she’s dancing in; flawlessly shining with whatever props she chooses to employ. :)
She is currently working on funding her upcoming bellydance & Bollywood DVD- called “RaqFit,” and y’all should TOTALLY go check it out. ^_^ Having seen her work, I would LOVE to take some IRL classes w/her somtime. But if I can’t currently, this looks like a great way to learn from her, remotely! (Both on the DVD, as well as given the awesome perks she’s offering, in exchange for folks backing her project.)

I just found one of these tonight (thanks to the lovely Kindle of C-burg), and remembering that BandCamp can be such a great place for finding new tunes, put one other link up from there as well. :) Both are very Beats Antique-y (Lynx even works w/BA on occasion), and both are GREAT fodder for bellydancing. ^_^ Enjoy!

There is much generosity, beauty & magick in the bellydance world, and apparently the VA/DC/MD area has claimed a fair bit of it. ^_^
For me, the best photos start a soundtrack going in the mind.. make me think of stories and possibilities of epic-ness.. and these photos definitely do. I find these images incredibly powerful & evocative, & I hope you do, too. :)

Belladonna told me a bit about this after her workshop, and I AM SO GOING. I wish I could sing, dance, or even vend for the event, but I don’t know if I’m quite sparkly enough- yet… ;\ -But that notwithstanding; COUNT ME IN!!! ^_^
